Code of Practice
The New Zealand School of Outdoor Studies Ltd (trading as New Zealand School of Commercial Diver Training)has agreed to observe and be bound by the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students. Copies of the Code are available from NZQA.
Full details of immigration requirements, advice on rights to employment in New Zealand while studying, and reporting requirements are available from Immigration New Zealand
Eligibility for Health Services
Most international students are not entitled to publicly funded health services while in New Zealand. If you receive medical treatment during your visits, you may be liable for the full costs of that treatment. Full details on entitlements to publicly funded health services are available through the Ministry of Health.
The Accident Compensation Corporation provides accident insurance for all New Zealand citizens, residents and temporary visitors to New Zealand, but you may still be liable for all other medical and related costs.
Medical and Travel Insurance
International students (including group students) must have appropriate and current medical and travel insurance while in New Zealand.
International Visa Requirements
The type and length of visa you apply for will be dependent on what your requirements for training are. Immigration NZ has a wealth of information for you to consider. Visit their website for more information.
Whilst NZSCDT cannot give specific advice about any aspects of the immigration process, you can use our preferred licensed immigration partner New Zealand Shores who will deal with your full application. We highly recommend that you consider using their services. Not only do they have knowledge of our courses, you will also get specific advice tailored to your circumstances and requirements, first-class individual service and a higher chance of successfully undertaking the visa process when compared with doing it on your own.
They will charge a fee for this service, paid directly to New Zealand Shores which will be approximately NZ$900.00 for a student visa from a visa-waiver country and NZ$1,500.00 for a visitor/student visa from non-visa waiver countries. Please note that these fees exclude the cost of the visa itself.
For more information on this service, contact Sarah Crome at New Zealand Shores.
